The ‘Diamonds of Furniture’ plebiscite is a prestigious competition dedicated to the furniture and interior design industry. Organized since 2006, it aims to select the most outstanding design, innovation, technology, and functionality products. A jury of industry experts, including architects, designers, and media representatives, assesses the submitted products, awarding the ‘Furniture Diamond’ title to the best in each category. The winners receive not only a prestigious statuette, but also the right to use the competition’s logo for promotional purposes, which is a confirmation of the high quality and originality of the awarded products. Melaco’s participation in the competition demonstrates the company’s ambition to present its innovative solutions in the industry forum.

Award in the Furniture Diamond 2021 plebiscite for Melaco

Furniture fronts in Micro Milling™ technology

Micro Milling™ technology from Melaco is an innovative solution that is revolutionising the production of furniture fronts. The process starts with the wrapping of a 200-300 μm thick polymer film on a 2-sided laminated chipboard. A hot-melt polyurethane adhesive, known as HOT MELT, is used for the wrapping. The outer layer is then milled according to the designed pattern after formatting and veneering narrow planes, using advanced copying units with real-time electronic depth measurement and diamond cutters.

Geometric milling achieved with MicroMilling™ technology

Micro Milling™ machining is carried out in a depth range of 100-400 μm, allowing for precise and visually appealing results. Thanks to the use of specialised Alphacam software, it is possible to process even the most complex graphic designs into machine codes.

Furniture fronts made using Micro Milling™ technology are characterised by exceptional aesthetics and durability. Thanks to the use of reactive PUR glue, they are resistant not only to moisture but also to elevated temperatures. This makes them ideal for a variety of interiors, from kitchens to bedrooms. What’s more, the technology allows for a wide range of designs – from minimalist lines to modern geometric shapes to rich ornaments. The ability to personalise and create unique designs makes Micro Milling™ fronts the ideal choice for designers looking for unusual solutions.

Handleless fronts for the bathroom – the MELAFOL line

The Wave+Calcite handleless fronts from the MELAFOL range are an innovative solution ideal for modern bathrooms. The production process for these fronts starts with the formatting of one-sided laminated MDF boards with a thickness of 16-25 mm. Then, using advanced CNC technology, the formats are precisely milled to create the characteristic wave pattern and the handleless Calcite profile.

After the milling stage, the fronts are coated with a high-quality polymer film using a vacuum pressing process. This method ensures that the film adheres perfectly to the surface, guaranteeing a perfect finish in all three planes. Wave+Calcite fronts are available in a variety of colours and finishes, including the popular PREMIER MATT matt surface with anti-fingerprint properties.
