BUDMA 2023
This year’s edition of the fair gathered about 1,000 companies from Poland and abroad. There were also market novelties, presentations of the latest technologies, substantive events and competitions. On the one hand, the topics revolved around solutions aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing labour costs, and, on the other hand, around pro-ecological tendencies. Representatives of the construction industry presented modular construction and prefabrication solutions as a way to speed up construction works and reduce their costs at the same time. The presented technologies and materials, used in the construction and furnishing of interiors, were in line with the trends in energy consumption and reduction of CO2 emissions.
These problems are not new to us. Since the outbreak of the pandemic and the threat to energy security, markets worldwide are looking for more economical and ecological solutions to stay afloat. This necessity is also dictated by the consumers themselves, who expect from producers and contractors greater environmental awareness, competitive prices, and at the same time a diverse product offer that will allow them to arrange interiors according to their own preferences.

We were also not surprised by the directions in which manufacturers of interior finishing and furnishing products are heading. Among them, there were solutions proposed a year ago, during the 30th edition of the BUDMA fair, which shows that the trends prevailing among producers, contractors and consumers are not temporary trends, but a long-term direction in which the industry is heading. Check what the fair exhibitors presented and stay on track with these trends.
Straight from nature
Being surrounded by nature has not gone out of fashion. Stone and wood keep breaking records of popularity – both in the natural variant and in elements that imitate them. They are used as structural elements of buildings, and finishing materials for rooms and furniture.
Stylish stone
Walls with various stone structures in colours most similar to natural ones, i.e., greys, browns and beiges, enjoyed great interest. One of the producers of finishing materials also presented an interesting exhibition, which focused on stone walls and sculptures with a stone structure.
At Melaco, we work with proven polymer film producers, enabling furniture manufacturers to fit into this trend for years. Indeed, a wide range of patterns with the structure of stone, natural wood and concrete have recently enjoyed increased popularity. It is used not only on walls but also as elements of furniture, countertops or fronts for bedroom, room, kitchen and bathroom cabinets.
Cosy wood
Among the products for interior design, the exhibitors again showed different ways of implementing marble, as well as wooden elements that refer to nature through their shape and even dimensions. Large, wooden boards with irregular edges attracted the attention of people arranging dining rooms and conference spaces accordingly to the eco-trend.
We get a similar effect at lower production costs in Melaco thanks to the use of our the MELAFOL line. In this process, MDF boards are used to create table tops with a PVC, PET finish, resembling a real wooden board.
Effective panels
During the fair, we noticed that manufacturers are increasingly reaching for solutions that are an alternative to ceramic tiles. They offer various types of panels that are to reduce the time of renovation and its costs. Consumers affected by inflation are looking for cheaper, yet more durable home solutions. Investors, on the other hand, want to finish interiors quickly and without additional financial outlays. Hence, the interest in decorative panels is growing, and with it the desire of manufacturers to meet these expectations.
We noticed this need already in 2018, carefully observing foreign markets, especially the Scandinavian and German ones. To make it easier for consumers to quickly renovate their interiors without using tools, we have created DESIGN SOLUTIONS™ decorative panels with a click connection, enabling self-assembly. What distinguishes our panels and how we have developed this product over the past years – find out here: DESIGN SOLUTIONS™ decorative panels – idea, evolution and plans for the future.
Following trends is our duty
Industry events are a great opportunity to observe very closely what is changing in the market and in the industry. The 31st edition of the BUDMA fair allowed us to check the direction in which construction and interior design is heading and it also confirmed that at Melaco we are up to date with the prevailing trends.
