About FSC Furniture Awards 2021

The FSC Furniture Awards 2021 aims to identify and reward FSC-certified companies. The ones that took part in this edition are based in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Poland, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, UK. The products are nominated in 7 categories: Home Living, Home Office, Office furniture, Furniture for public spaces, Garden furniture for the home, Garden furniture for public spaces, Outdoor furniture for public spaces.

The aim of the competition is to draw attention to the use of wood from certified sources. As shown by GlobeScan research commissioned by FSC International, as many as 84% ​​of consumers expect companies to ensure that the timber products they sell do not contribute to deforestation. The FSC certificate confirms and mobilizes companies from the furniture industry to use sustainable wood. This year’s online awards gala was preceded by a discussion on the subject that was attended by representatives of FSC International, international NGOs, but also forest owners, journalists and retailers.

However, having the FSC certificate was not the only condition for entering the competition. The jury also took into account other factors, such as design, functionality and the response of the nominated solutions to customer expectations. We are pleased that the jury appreciated the timelessness and versatility offered by modular furniture from the HOME OFFICE Select line, as well as their perfect, elegant finish.

HOME OFFICE Select – modular furniture for any interior

The hallmark of furniture modules from the HOME OFFICE Select line is a unique, stylish look. The outer surfaces are covered with a polymer foil in the WOLFRAM GRAY color in the SUPERMATT finish. Inside, there is a foil with a Natural Kendal Oak pattern with a synchronous wood structure. Narrow surfaces have profiled edges in the postforming technology.

The HOME OFFICE Select collection is also available in a warm wood color, thanks to the high-quality Natural Kendal Oak laminated board. The core of the board is made of 16 mm thick, low-emission chipboard. Natural wood is an excellent choice for Scandinavian and modern interiors and the perfect way to give a room coziness.

Elements from the HOME OFFICE Select line can be used to create a practical shelf for storage, a table or an ergonomic desk for work or study. Universal modules allow for any interior arrangement, regardless of its dimensions. Furniture can also perform various functions – during the day it can become a comfortable desk, and after hours the modules can serve as a coffee table. They can also separate part of the office from the rest of the home space, ensuring privacy during work.

Melaco – the only Polish company with the FSC award

The win in this year’s edition of the competition makes us even happier because we received the award as the only company from Poland. We are glad that we can represent Polish products on the international arena in this way and pay attention to the excellent quality of our domestic products. It is worth remembering that it is Poland that ranks first in terms of the number of furniture companies (861) with FSC certification. The United Kingdom is second (746) and Italy is third (602).

We are very pleased that Poland has also joined the competition this year – said Karolina Tymorek, FSC Project Coordinator in Poland, for the “Meblarstwo24” magazine. – On the basis of official Eurostat data, in 2018 Poland was ahead of Germany in terms of the value of furniture sold abroad and took the first place in furniture exports in Europe. That is why we are pleased that the Polish representation, Melaco Sp. z o.o. from Nowa Sól, won in the Home Office category. Congratulations to the winners and we hope that in the coming years more Polish producers with FSC certificates will join this group.
